CrossFit is a principal strength and conditioning program that delivers a broad, general, and inclusive fitness. CrossFit is not a specialized fitness program but a deliberate attempt to optimize physical competence in each of ten recognized fitness domains. CrossFit is and can be for everyone. The needs of an children, advanced athletes and elderly vary greatly. Regardless of your skill level, we have a level of workout that is right for you at North Lee CrossFit. We have a mixture of beginner CrossFitters to elite CrossFitters and we all work together as a team.
This is often a misconception about CrossFit. Please do not let your current fitness level deter you from trying CrossFit. All of our movements and workouts are scalable – meaning we can adjust them to your fitness level and ability.
CrossFit methods differ from your typical gym in many ways. Here at CrossFit you are not paying just to “utilize” our facility and equipment. Instead you are paying for result-driven training from our experienced coaches. Our classes are small in size in order to enable more one-on-one attention from our coaches. Our focus is on quality, not quantity!
Yes, you are still able to participate in our classes. You are taught proper form and movement which can help in the rehabilitation process and promote healing. We will work with you and the injury to provide you with a safe and functional training environment.
We run, jump, pull, push, climb, squat, lift, press, carry, throw and catch. We believe in utilizing our entire body. We have also been known to have a little fun… we live by the motto work hard, play hard! A typical CrossFit class starts with a warm-up followed by a WOD (workout of the day) which is led by a certified CrossFit coach. You can expect to be at the gym anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hours depending on the workout.
Here at CrossFit we promote and follow the Paleolithic diet, also known as the Caveman diet. We realize that this is not a “one-size fits all” type of diet and therefore we do not force this diet or any type of diet on our members. However, you must understand that proper nutrition is a huge key in the results you will get out of CrossFit. You will have a trainer. At CrossFit, each class is led by a trained and certified Coach. Training will be done in small groups; that is where the fun, competitiveness, and camaraderie come from. A typical class will consist of a warm-up, a skill session, explanation of the WOD (Workout of the Day), examples and instruction of the movements, and the actual workout.
Originally, it was meant to supplement your life and make you better at your other activities. However, is has, itself, turned into the Sport of Fitness. CrossFit has its own CrossFit Games with everyone having a fair and equal chance of making it to the elite finals. Over 70,000 athletes participated this year!
